Athrun Zala and Meer Campbell are two characters from Gundam SEED Destiny anime/manga series.
I loved their relationship since I saw them together, around episode seven or eight, when Meer goes to greet Athrun. She might look like Lacus Clyne, Athrun's ex-fianceé, but her personality is totally different from the Pink Princess.
Athrun always tried to protect Meer somehow, even if the pink haired girl was all the time around him in every opportunity she had, playing her role as Lacus. Their relationship is very deep; perhaps Athrun saw her as a good friend or a sister to take care of, but I think Meer fell in love with him, and we can see how much Zala cared about her when she dies on his arms, in episode 47. (I also think it was a huge mistake to kill Meer, that's something I'll never forgive to Sunrise ><!)
